Building My First PC: A Journey of Triumph and Troubles

I recently took the plunge into the world of PC building, and while the excitement was palpable, it’s been quite the rollercoaster ride with a series of challenges to tackle. Let me share the components of my setup and the hurdles I’m currently facing.

PC Specifications

  • Motherboard: MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max WiFi
  • Processor (CPU): AMD Ryzen 7 9800X 3D
  • Memory (RAM): Corsair Vengeance DDR5 64GB 6000MHz CL38
  • Cooling: Corsair Nautilus 360 RS AIO
  • Storage: Samsung 990 Pro NVMe M.2 4TB
  • Fans: Corsair 120mm ARGB
  • Case: Foifkin F300 Case
  • Graphics Card (GPU): Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Gaming OC 16GB
  • Power Supply (PSU): Corsair RX750 (from my old build)

The Challenges Encountered

While I managed to get my system up and running using my previous graphics card, I hit some stumbling blocks that have left me scratching my head:

  1. Fan Control Issues: Currently, my fans are operating at an ear-piercing level akin to an aircraft attempting takeoff. The Corsair iCUE Software doesn’t enable me to control the fan speeds effectively. Although I tried to reduce the fan speed in BIOS, the system refused to boot up, which is quite frustrating.

  2. RAM Speed Limitations: I have not been able to activate XMP (Extreme Memory Profile), which means that my RAM is defaulting to a much lower speed of 4800MHz, significantly underutilizing its potential.

  3. GPU Installation Hurdles: I have yet to install my new graphics card due to a power supply compatibility issue. The RTX 5070 Ti requires a 3x 8-pin connector, but my PSU only has two available.

  4. CPU Power Supply Constraints: Additionally, the CPU power supply from my PSU only has a single 8-pin connector, whereas the motherboard would benefit from two.

Seeking Solutions

I’m reaching out to the community for advice on how to resolve these issues. If anyone has suggestions on fan control, optimizing RAM speeds, or PSU upgrades for better compatibility with my new GPU, I
