Conquering the CompTIA Security+ Exam on My First Attempt: A Journey Worth Sharing

Hello everyone! I’m excited to share that I have successfully passed the CompTIA Security+ certification exam on my first try! If you are currently feeling anxious about the exam, let me assure you that there’s no need to be frightened.

Initially, I held concerns about my readiness for the exam. Contrary to my expectations, I found that the test was manageable. While it presented its challenges, it wasn’t as daunting as I had anticipated. There were only a few questions that could have benefited from clearer wording, but for the most part, the format was straightforward.

One aspect I had dreaded was the simulation components of the exam. I had assumed these would involve complex command entries from memory. To my relief, the simulations were far more user-friendly, resembling matching exercises or selections from drop-down menus rather than memory-intensive tasks.

My apprehension regarding the simulations had initially delayed my decision to take the test, as I believed I needed more practice to tackle those sections. In hindsight, it’s clear that I unnecessarily psyched myself out.

Here’s the advice I wish to share: after completing your studies, be sure to take several practice exams and ensure you’re consistently achieving passing scores. When faced with questions that you find challenging, don’t hesitate to skip them temporarily. Mark these questions for review, as another question in the exam might provide the hint you need to recall the answer. Be sure to mark those questions too, allowing you to revisit them easily at the end of the exam.
