About Nick Percoco

Before joining Kraken, Nick made significant contributions in various roles, including serving as the Chief Security Officer at Uptake, an industrial AI company, and as Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a comprehensive cybersecurity solutions provider. His expertise has been shared on prominent stages like Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP, where he has spoken to audiences ranging from the Department of Homeland Security to the United States Secret Service.

A Lifelong Passion for Technology

Nick’s journey into the world of technology began at a young age, having learned to code on a Timex Sinclair 1000 at just seven years old. He became involved in the vibrant Chicagoland bulletin board system (BBS) community during the late 1980s and early 1990s, using a Commodore 64 and later transitioning to an Intel 386 PC running Linux. This early exposure laid the foundation for his lifelong passion for cybersecurity.

As a fixture in the Chicago hacker scene, Nick founded THOTCON, a popular hacker conference that has been fostering a collaborative community for cybersecurity enthusiasts for over a decade. In 2023, THOTCON will be celebrating its 12th conference, continuing to provide a platform for innovation and knowledge-sharing within the industry.
