In his current role at Kraken, a leading global exchange for digital assets, Nick oversees the realms of Security, IT, and Engineering. His extensive background includes previous positions as Chief Security Officer at Uptake—an industrial AI company—and Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a comprehensive cybersecurity firm. His expertise places him at the forefront of cybersecurity discussions, having spoken at prestigious conferences such as Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP, as well as to select audiences including the Department of Homeland Security, US-CERT, Interpol, and the United States Secret Service.

Nick’s passion for technology began early; at just seven years old, he started coding on the Timex Sinclair 1000. He immersed himself in the Chicago tech scene during the late 80s and early 90s, exploring forums on a Commodore 64 and later a powerful Intel 386 PC running Linux. This journey has deeply shaped his understanding and approach to cybersecurity.

For decades, Nick has been an active participant in the Chicago hacker community, famously founding and running THOTCON, which is set to celebrate its 12th edition this year.
