Is My RTX 3080 Defective or Is 1080p Gaming the Culprit?
As a PC enthusiast, there’s nothing quite as frustrating as encountering unexpected performance issues with new hardware. Recently, I’ve been grappling with perplexing visual problems while gaming on my RTX 3080, and I’m seeking guidance from the community.
My Setup:
- Processor: Intel i7 9700K
- RAM: 32GB at 3600 MHz
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA RTX 3080
Despite this powerhouse of a build, I’m experiencing significant aliasing in nearly all the games I play. It’s as if I can discern individual pixels, and the overall appearance isn’t smooth at all. To ensure that the problem doesn’t lie with my monitor, I’ve performed a side-by-side comparison with a PC housing an RTX 2060. To my surprise, the RTX 2060 delivered a noticeably better visual experience, albeit at a lower frame rate.
I’ve diligently experimented with every setting in the NVIDIA Control Panel to no avail. In fact, I’m considering testing an older GTX 1660 in this build, hoping that if the aliasing issue resolves, I can confirm my suspicions about the RTX 3080 being at fault.
One question I have: is the RTX 3080 inherently problematic, or could the fact that I’m gaming at 1080p be influencing the output? While using Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) to upsample to 4K seems to alleviate some issues, not every game supports this feature, adding to my frustration.
I initially sought advice from NVIDIA but, unfortunately, my post was promptly deleted. So here I am, reaching out to this community in hopes of insight or suggestions.
What I’ve Tried:
- Fresh installation of drivers
- Installation of the latest drivers
- Enabling Anti-Aliasing (AA)
- Swapping monitors to rule out display issues
I appreciate any guidance or assistance that you can provide. Additionally, I’m in the process of compiling screenshots for better clarity, but switching the monitor between two PCs is taking longer than anticipated.
