Concerned About a Spark in My Computer: Is It Safe to Boot Up?
Today, I encountered a troubling situation with my desktop computer that has left me feeling uncertain about its safety. While I was adjusting my headphones, I unintentionally bumped into my PC’s headphone jack. At first, everything seemed normal, and I didn’t notice any immediate issues. However, a few hours later, my computer unexpectedly shut down. This wasn’t a standard reboot; instead, the keyboard and RGB lights went dark, indicating a complete power loss.
To restore functionality, I had to switch the power off and on again. Following this, my PC struggled to boot up properly. Concerned, I unplugged it from the power strip and then plugged it back in. Upon restarting, I was alarmed to see a spark and hear a pop, which appeared to originate from the power supply unit (PSU).
At this point, I’m left wondering: Is it safe to continue trying to boot up the computer, or should I seek professional assistance? If anyone has insights or recommendations on how to safely proceed, your guidance would be greatly appreciated. Let’s discuss how to tackle this concerning issue!
