Dealing with Account Hacking: A Frustrating Experience with Amazon
In today’s digital landscape, account security can often feel like an uphill battle. Recently, I found myself grappling with an alarming situation—my Amazon account has been hacked for over three weeks, and the resolution seems elusive. Despite my best efforts, I’m still searching for a solution.
Over the past few weeks, I have noticed unauthorized activity on my account. It appears that someone has been placing orders using my credentials, and I suspect that this might be linked to a brushing scam. New debit and credit cards that do not belong to me have been added, along with unfamiliar shipping addresses. To make matters worse, items paid for with these cards are being shipped directly to my home.
The frustration escalated after making five calls to Amazon’s customer service. Despite having my account locked twice for security reasons, the unauthorized activity persists. I’ve changed my password more than ten times and enabled two-factor authentication, not just on my Amazon account but on the related email address as well. Additionally, I took the precaution of deauthorizing all devices connected to my account.
Even after all these security measures, Amazon assures me that they have “sanitized” my account. However, the situation remains unchanged, and I continue to receive notifications of fraudulent activity.
I find myself at a crossroads; I really do not want to close my account. Over the years, I have built a substantial order history and accumulated significant perks, especially through my children’s baby registries.
If you’re facing a similar situation, know you’re not alone. It’s essential to advocate for your digital safety. I’m still seeking a resolution and hope to find a way to secure my account without losing everything I’ve built up over the years. If you have any advice or experiences to share, I would greatly appreciate your input in navigating this frustrating dilemma.
