Beware of Kaspersky: Internet Speeds Slashed by 60%
If you’re considering Kaspersky for your internet security needs, you might want to think again. A recent experience has left me frustrated and questioning the effectiveness of this antivirus Software. Upon installing Kaspersky, I noticed a staggering 60% reduction in my internet speed. Strangely, the moment I exited the application, my connection returned to normal. For someone who frequently downloads large files, maintaining my internet speed is critical, and this performance drop is simply unacceptable.
Previously, I used BitDefender and had no issues at all—my internet speed remained consistent, even while downloading significant data. In my quest for a change, I also tested other antivirus Software options, including McAfee, Norton, and Avira, and found that none of them caused similar slowdowns. It seems unequivocally that this issue lies with Kaspersky.
Having even installed Kaspersky on my work computer only reinforced my findings; the same slow speeds were apparent. In an attempt to identify the cause of the slowdown, I systematically disabled Kaspersky’s protection features, one by one, without any noticeable improvement. In fact, even with all features turned off, my speeds did not increase. Comparatively, BitDefender, which offers similar features, did not hinder my internet performance during my five years of use.
After reaching out to Kaspersky’s Tech Support for assistance, the experience was less than satisfactory. They offered no solutions and ultimately refused to issue a refund, leaving me feeling stuck with a service that isn’t living up to its promises.
While I’m not here to endorse any particular product, I must confess that I regret my recent switch from BitDefender, a decision motivated by curiosity rather than necessity. If you value your internet speed as much as I do—especially when it comes to downloading large files—I highly recommend steering clear of Kaspersky.
Lastly, for anyone who may argue that a downward shift from 400 Mbps is negligible, let me clarify: I pay a premium for my high-speed connection, and experiencing a 60% drop due to inadequate antivirus Software is simply intolerable. I have tested this with various files and websites, and the results remain consistent.
If anyone has suggestions for reliable antivirus alternatives or has experienced similar issues, please feel free to share your insights.
