Recently, I found myself in a rather alarming situation thanks to a direct message on Discord. A user I had never interacted with before reached out, asking me to test their game. Intrigued, I agreed, but little did I know that this would lead to a potential security threat.

Upon launching the game, I encountered a prompt asking for a “beta tester” key to access the experience. When I inquired about this key, the individual responded with unsettling screenshots, claiming he possessed personal information about me and threatened to leak it on platforms such as “Doxbin” and other Discord servers. He also alarmingly suggested that my computer was now infected with a virus.

In a panic, I immediately ran antivirus scans using both the built-in Windows Defender and Avast. Fortunately, both scans indicated that my computer was free from any malware. To further secure my online presence, I promptly changed the passwords for my important accounts.

Now, I’m left wondering—was this merely an empty threat, or should I truly be concerned? Given that this incident occurred only about 40 minutes ago, I haven’t noticed any unusual behavior with my accounts as of yet, nor have I received any alarming notifications about compromised access.
