As a seasoned IT professional, I pride myself on my ability to resolve technical challenges. However, even the most experienced individuals can occasionally encounter unexpected issues—like the one I’m facing with a used laptop I recently purchased from my company.

This laptop features a Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU, which was functioning without a hitch for the first two weeks after my acquisition. Unfortunately, a few days ago, the GPU suddenly stopped working, and I’ve been at a standstill ever since.

In my attempts to troubleshoot the problem, I’ve taken several steps to restore functionality. First, I reinstalled the drivers and carried out several BIOS updates. When that didn’t yield results, I decided to revert both the BIOS and Windows updates, hoping to return to a stable configuration. I even uninstall and then reverted the GPU drivers to a previous version, thinking it might help.

To cover all bases, I went ahead and reinstalled Windows entirely, only to revert to an older version once again. Despite these extensive efforts, the GPU is still detected in the Device Manager, yet it is not recognized by any other software tools I typically rely on.
