Feeling Stumped: An IT Professional Struggling to Solve This Issue… (Variation 117)

Troubleshooting a Faulty Nvidia 3060: Seeking Solutions

If you’re an IT professional like myself, there’s a certain level of frustration that comes when technology fails to cooperate, especially when you’ve recently acquired a new device. I found myself in this predicament after purchasing a used laptop from my previous employer, which was equipped with a powerful Nvidia 3060 GPU. For the first two weeks, everything was functioning smoothly. However, out of the blue, the graphics card ceased to work.

In my quest to resolve the issue, I’ve tried multiple troubleshooting methods. Here’s what I have attempted so far:

  • Driver Reinstallation: I started by reinstalling the graphics drivers, but this did not yield success.
  • BIOS Updates: I checked for any available BIOS updates and applied them meticulously.
  • Rollback Options: I took the drastic step of reverting both BIOS and Windows updates to previous versions hoping to restore functionality.
  • Uninstalling Drivers: I uninstalled the current drivers completely and tried reverting to older versions, but to no avail.
  • Complete Windows Reinstall: Ultimately, I even went as far as reinstalling the entire Windows operating system, only to still find the same issue persisting.

Despite all these efforts, the Nvidia 3060 still registers in the device manager but fails to be recognized by any other applications or programs.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? I’m reaching out for assistance or suggestions based on personal experiences or insights that could help me resolve this conundrum. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
