A Glimpse into the Past: Rediscovering My Dad’s Sharp PC-7000
Recently, while organizing our shed, I stumbled upon a hidden gem from the past—my father’s portable computer, the Sharp PC-7000. Its discovery was like a delightful time capsule, transporting me back to an era when technology was just beginning to evolve.
The first thing that struck me was its size and design. While I only managed to snap one photo of it resting on my lap, the sheer nostalgia of holding this piece of history was palpable. Due to its age and the natural inhabitants of our shed (spiders, anyone?), it’s been kept outside, yet I was pleasantly surprised to find that it powered on without issue after being plugged in. Additionally, we still have floppy disks that accompany this vintage device, adding to its charm!
Reflecting on its significance, it’s clear that the Sharp PC-7000 was quite the innovation in its time. My dad used to carry it to his classes, embracing the cutting-edge technology of the day. It’s fascinating to realize just how far we have come since those early days of portable computing. This relic not only serves as a reminder of my father’s journey but also sparks an appreciation for the advancements we’ve made in technology.
Exploring this piece of equipment has ignited a sense of curiosity within me. I find myself pondering how this once was considered state-of-the-art, and what stories it could tell about academic life in a different decade. It’s moments like these that reinforce the importance of preserving our history, even in the form of old computers collecting dust in a shed.
