Solving Playback Issues with 4K VR Videos from Pornhub Premium
In the midst of quarantine, I delved into some research and decided to download a selection of 4K VR videos from Pornhub Premium. While the service promises the ability to watch and download videos up to 1440p and 4K, I encountered a frustrating issue: the downloaded files simply won’t play correctly.
Upon acquiring the premium subscription, I eagerly downloaded several sizable VR .mp4 files, each exceeding 1GB in size. However, when attempting to view them on my PC, I was greeted with a rather disappointing sight: only sound was audible, while the video screen displayed nothing but a blank image punctuated by a distorted green line along the top. At times, the entire screen would turn completely green, and the video player would frequently freeze. I tested both VLC Media Player and MPC-HC with no success, leading me to suspect that I might have downloaded corrupted files.
The initial intention behind these downloads was to enjoy them using the Mobile VR Station app with my VR headset, but my hopes were dashed when I received a “Cannot decode” error message instead.
Seeking Solutions
After my initial troubleshooting, I found myself reaching out to the community in hopes of finding a solution to this pressing issue. Notably, I did manage to play other VR videos, both from Pornhub and various sources, without any problems, which indicated that the issue might be isolated to the recent downloads.
Progress and Further Discoveries
Following a bit of experimentation, it became apparent that the problem was not with the videos themselves but rather with the Mobile VR Station app on iOS. The videos played flawlessly on Windows’ default media player and even in VLC once I disabled hardware encoding. This revelation led me to the next challenge: locating a compatible mobile application that would allow me to view these videos seamlessly.
A New Player on the Scene
After further exploration, I decided to try the SKYBOX VR Video Player for iOS. At first glance, it appeared to be a promising solution. While it successfully recognized and played the videos, I encountered yet another obstacle: the playback exhibited only audio without any visual content, resulting in a frustrating black screen.
Conclusion
If you’re facing similar playback challenges with 4K VR videos, ensure that you check compatibility with your media players and consider experimenting with different apps. While Iām still on the hunt for the ideal mobile player that can handle these files
