Seeking Guidance: What to Do with a Garage Full of Hard Drives
I find myself in quite the predicament and am reaching out for advice. While cleaning out my garage, I stumbled upon a rather surprising stash of over 500 refurbished SCSI hard drives that belonged to my late father-in-law. The circumstances of how he acquired them remain a mystery to me, as he intended to sell these drives but sadly passed away before he could do so.
These hard drives are all factory refurbished, sealed, and neatly packaged, ready for shipping. However, upon conducting some research, I’ve discovered that their market value varies significantly, ranging from $10 to $120 each. This range raises some challenges, as most of these models are relatively old, and I’m uncertain about finding buyers who would be interested in them.
Part of me contemplates cutting my losses—technically, my father-in-law’s losses—and considering scrapping them. However, I can’t shake the feeling that I might miss the opportunity to connect these drives with someone who could genuinely use them.
Here are a few of the model numbers I have on hand:
- Seagate Barracuda ST15150N
- Seagate Barracuda ST118273LC
- Seagate Cheetah ST118202LC
- IBM DRHS IEC-950 ECE32148
I am reaching out to the community for any guidance or suggestions. Should I attempt to sell these drives individually, or is there a better approach to find a new home for them? I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice from those who may have faced a similar situation!
