Reviving a Vintage Laptop: A New Beginning for My Child
Recently, I took on an exciting project: I revived my trusty 12-year-old laptop by installing Ubuntu. This nostalgic device is set to become my four-year-old daughter’s very first laptop, providing her with an opportunity to learn typing and writing in a digital environment.
One of my main goals in this endeavor is to create a user-friendly experience for her. I am exploring the best methods to ensure that the laptop boots directly into a text editor. This way, she won’t need to rely on the mouse just yet, allowing her to focus on developing her typing skills in a straightforward manner.
Additionally, I’m curious about a small tweak that could enhance her experience: is there a way to configure the system to start with Caps Lock enabled? Any tips or recommendations to simplify this process would be greatly appreciated, as I want to ensure a smooth introduction to technology for my little one.
Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this tech journey together!
