Has anyone ever come across a black window that isn’t the Command Prompt? (Variation 12)

Mysterious Black Window Encounter: A Tech Dilemma Unraveled

Have you ever stumbled upon a peculiar black window on your computer screen that doesn’t seem to be the Command Prompt? I recently faced this intriguing situation and wanted to share my experience in hopes of shedding light on it for others who might encounter the same.

Initially, I suspected it was just a dead pixel on my screen. However, when I inadvertently dragged the window with my mouse, I realized it was something different. Out of curiosity, I checked my task manager for any unfamiliar applications, but everything appeared normal.

The window in question resembled a minimized version of the Command Prompt, yet it had a distinctly transparent appearance when hovering over text input fields. Interestingly, I could drag it around, which added to the oddity of the situation. I couldn’t share any screenshots at the time, but for visual reference, I created a brief image album that can be found here: Weird window – Imgur.

With this strange occurrence on my mind, I began to wonder: Could this be a sign of malware? Was a clean installation of Windows my only option moving forward?

UPDATE: Thanks to a helpful suggestion from a fellow Reddit user, I took the advice to download Process Explorer. To my surprise, I traced that bizarre, black cmd-like window to the voice recognition feature within One Dragon Center, a program I normally only use to customize RGB lighting for my social media content. The origin of the issue remains a mystery, but I successfully uninstalled it after a system restart.

I appreciate everyone’s insights and support during this puzzling experience! If you find yourself facing something similar, delve into the background processes running on your machine; you might uncover something unexpected just like I did!
