Reviving an Old Laptop: A New Learning Tool for My Child
I’m excited to share that I recently gave new life to my 12-year-old laptop by installing Ubuntu. This device is now set to become the first laptop for my four-year-old daughter. I believe this will be a fantastic opportunity for her to learn typing and writing skills in a fun and engaging way.
One of the challenges I’m facing is how to configure the laptop to automatically launch a text editor upon startup. My goal is to create a user-friendly experience that eliminates the need for her to navigate with a mouse just yet. If anyone has tips or methods on achieving this, your insights would be invaluable!
Additionally, I’m curious if it’s possible to have the laptop boot up with the Caps Lock key enabled by default. This could be helpful as she begins to familiarize herself with typing.
I look forward to hearing any suggestions from the community on how to set up this laptop to ensure a smooth start for my little one’s educational journey!
