Unexplained Installers on Your New Computer: What You Should Know
Recently, I received a new Lenovo E490 laptop from my company, pre-installed with Windows 10. Excited to start using my new device, I had my previous data transferred over, which I suspect may have included some unwanted files, potentially even malware.
After setting up my Outlook account, I proceeded to reboot the laptop. To my surprise, upon logging in, several unfamiliar installation windows appeared. Curious yet concerned, I took a look at what these processes were. However, after conducting a search online for the installation names—such as “petiolule” and “ichor”—I found no useful information. It was perplexing to see these unfamiliar installers pop up when I expected a seamless transition.
Given that I couldn’t find any references to these strange installations, I’m questioning whether I should be worried about their presence. Is it possible that they’re benign remnants from my previous device, or do they signal a more serious issue?
If you’ve experienced something similar or understand what these installers might be, I would greatly appreciate your insights. Should I take this situation lightly or take immediate action to protect my new laptop?
Thanks in advance for any advice you might have!
