Reviving My Old Laptop: A Perfect Learning Tool for My Child
After a decade of faithful service, I recently rejuvenated my 12-year-old laptop by installing Ubuntu. This time, it’s not just mine; it’s being repurposed as my four-year-old daughter’s first personal computer. My goal is to provide her with a nurturing environment to explore her writing and typing skills.
To simplify her experience, I am exploring ways to configure the laptop to launch directly into a text editor upon startup. This setup would allow her to dive straight into her creative endeavors without needing to navigate a mouse—ideal for her current stage of development.
Additionally, I’m curious if there’s a method to set the laptop so that it boots up with Caps Lock activated. This would help her become familiar with uppercase letters right from the beginning, making it easier for her to practice writing.
I look forward to any tips or suggestions from the community on how to make this learning journey as smooth as possible for my little one!
