Troubleshooting a Non-Functional Nvidia 3060 Laptop GPU: A Frustrated IT Professional’s Dilemma
As an IT professional, it’s often disheartening to encounter a seemingly unsolvable issue, especially when it involves hardware that has previously been functioning without a hitch. Recently, I acquired a used laptop equipped with an Nvidia 3060 graphics card from my company, and up until a couple of days ago, everything appeared to be running smoothly. However, my luck took a turn when the GPU suddenly ceased to function.
In an effort to restore its operational status, I have tried a variety of troubleshooting steps. My initial approach included reinstalling the graphics drivers and updating the BIOS. When that didn’t yield results, I attempted to revert to older BIOS and Windows versions to counter any potential conflicts. I have also explored uninstalling the drivers completely before reverting back to previous versions to see if they would work again. Even a full Windows reinstallation didn’t change the situation, nor did rolling back to an earlier version of the operating system.
Interestingly enough, the device manager recognizes the graphics card without any issues, yet no other programs are able to detect its presence. This leaves me in a perplexing situation, as the usual solutions have not rectified the problem.
Does anyone in the tech community have insights or suggestions that could help diagnose or resolve this perplexing issue? Your expertise would be greatly appreciated!
