While tidying up the shed, I came across my father’s vintage portable computer.

Unearthing a Piece of Technology History: My Dad’s Sharp PC-7000

Recently, while organizing my shed, I stumbled upon a remarkable relic from the past – my father’s portable computer, the Sharp PC-7000. This little machine has a special place in our family’s history and, despite some wear and tear, it still holds plenty of memories.

The only photograph I managed to capture was one of the computer resting on my lap, and I can see why it was once considered cutting-edge. Even though it now resides in the shed, primarily because of the local spider population, the device miraculously sprang to life when I plugged it in. Remarkably, we still have floppy disks compatible with it!

Reflecting on its significance, I remember how my dad would carry this computer to classes. It offered him a sense of connectivity and innovation that was truly ahead of its time. The experience of discovering this vintage technology not only emphasizes the evolution of computers but also highlights the personal connections we forge with our tools.

As I continue to explore and reminisce about this piece of technology, I can’t help but feel a deep appreciation for the journey technology has taken us on and the memories attached to these devices.
