Troubleshooting a Non-Responsive Nvidia 3060 Laptop GPU: Seeking Solutions
As an IT professional, I often find myself tackling various software and hardware issues with a sense of determination. However, I recently encountered a perplexing problem with a used laptop equipped with an Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU that has left me scratching my head and in need of assistance.
The story begins two weeks ago when I purchased this laptop from my company. Initially, everything functioned flawlessly, and the GPU performed as expected. However, just a few days ago, the GPU seemingly stopped working altogether.
In my quest to resolve the issue, I’ve implemented several standard troubleshooting steps. First, I attempted to reinstall the graphics drivers, hoping to restore functionality. I then proceeded with BIOS updates and even reverted to previous versions of both the BIOS and Windows in an attempt to pinpoint the problem. I’ve uninstalled the drivers multiple times, reverting to earlier versions in the hopes of jogging the GPU back to life. At one point, I even went so far as to reinstall the entire operating system and revert to an older Windows version, but to no avail.
The curious part of this saga is that the GPU still appears in the Device Manager without any errors; however, it is not recognized by any applications or performance monitoring tools. This leaves me at quite a crossroads.
If anyone in the community has encountered a similar scenario or has insights into potential solutions, I would greatly appreciate your input. It’s frustrating to feel stuck, and I am eager to resolve the issue and make full use of this laptop’s capabilities once again. Thank you in advance for any assistance you might provide!
