My Mom Attempted to “Fix” the WiFi Issue, but Things Got Worse—Need Advice

Title: Troubleshooting WiFi Woes: When “Fixing” It Creates More Problems

Dealing with technical issues is challenging enough without having to navigate the added complexities of family attempts at DIY fixes. Recently, I encountered a classic scenario that many can relate to: my mom’s struggle with our WiFi connection escalated into a full-blown computer crisis.

For the past two days, our WiFi has been out of commission. While I thought I could manage the situation, my mom decided to intervene. She owns an older Mac computer from 2011, running Windows 7—an odd combination, but that’s a story for another day.

In her effort to resolve the WiFi issue, she took matters into her own hands by initiating a system repair (known as “obnova systému” in Czech). I wasn’t hopeful from the start, and as she commenced the repair, I felt a growing dread.

Unfortunately, my instincts proved correct. The computer restarted, began loading files, and entered a seemingly endless cycle of system repair. After what felt like an eternity, it eventually indicated that it could neither repair the issues nor confirm that they existed at all.

Yet, here’s the kicker: the repair process never actually comes to a conclusion. It seems to be in a perpetual loop—retrying unsuccessfully while denying me access to sign in or resolve the issue myself.

So here I am, grappling with a non-functioning WiFi and an even more problematic laptop. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Have you ever faced a similar situation? What steps did you take to regain control? Your insights would be invaluable as I navigate this tech-driven headache!
