Unearthing a Piece of History: The Sharp PC-7000
As I was organizing the shed recently, I stumbled upon a fascinating relic from the past: my father’s portable computer, the Sharp PC-7000.
This remarkable device, which I only managed to photograph while it rested comfortably on my lap, holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, it has to stay in the shed due to the inevitable presence of spiders. However, to my surprise, it powered on beautifully the moment I plugged it in. Even more exciting is the fact that I still possess floppy disks that are compatible with it!
Looking at the Sharp PC-7000, it’s easy to see why this machine was considered cutting-edge in its prime. My dad carried it to his classes, showcasing the remarkable innovation of its era. It’s a tangible connection to a time when technology was beginning to change how we learn and communicate.
Discovering this vintage computer not only ignited fond memories of my father but also sparked a sense of nostalgia for a time when computing was not yet a fixture of everyday life. This quaint piece of technology is not just a reminder of the past; it represents a significant milestone in the ever-evolving world of electronics.
