Tackling Mouse Lag on My New ThinkPad: Seeking Solutions
After spending over 50 hours troubleshooting my new P51 ThinkPad, I’m excited to share a significant breakthrough I’ve made in resolving mouse lag issues. By removing Cortana, I managed to eliminate about 75% of the mouse stuttering that has been driving me up the wall. However, I’m still left with that pesky 25% and am eager to explore additional solutions.
The primary challenge I face arises when using Flash-generated slides in Chrome, a critical part of my daily workflow. Despite all my efforts—uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and programs, restoring my computer, and even wiping my device clean—nothing has fully resolved the lag.
The problem manifests as my mouse stuttering approximately every 3-5 seconds while navigating these slides. I had heard claims about Cortana being a potential culprit for causing mouse lag, so I decided to disable her. To my relief, I saw an immediate enhancement in performance. Yet, the experience is still far from perfect, prompting me to search for other possible fixes.
Interestingly, I’ve discovered that reducing the size of the window or scaling down the slides almost entirely eliminates the lag. Unfortunately, these adjustments aren’t viable long-term solutions as I need to maintain clarity while working on my projects.
I would greatly appreciate any insights or suggestions you might have to help address the remaining mouse lag.
Update: I want to express my gratitude for the helpful suggestions I’ve received so far. While I’ve experimented with nearly all of them, the issue lingers. I should point out that the mouse operates flawlessly outside the Flash slides, but the stuttering kicks in the moment the cursor crosses into that area.
If you have any further advice or insights, please let me know. Your input could make all the difference in finding a permanent solution to this frustrating problem.
