Troubleshooting GPU Issues: My Frustrating Experience with a Used Laptop
As an IT professional, I often tackle various computing challenges, but I recently encountered a perplexing issue that left me scratching my head. After purchasing a used laptop from my company, I was excited to put its capabilities to the test, particularly with its Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU. Initially, everything was running smoothly for about two weeks, but then, out of the blue, the graphics card stopped functioning.
Determined to resolve the problem, I embarked on a thorough troubleshooting journey. Here are the steps I undertook in hopes of reviving the GPU:

Driver Reinstallation: I began by reinstalling the graphics drivers, a standard first step in resolving GPU issues. Despite this, the problem persisted.

BIOS Updates: Next, I checked for any available BIOS updates. After updating, I hoped for a miraculous turnaround, but unfortunately, there was none.

Reverting Changes: In case the updates were to blame, I reverted both the BIOS and Windows updates. Still, the GPU remained unresponsive.

Driver Rollback: I also attempted to roll back the graphics drivers to an earlier version. Again, no luck.

Windows Reinstallation: To cover all bases, I decided to reinstall Windows completely. This is usually a surefire way to eliminate software conflicts, yet the GPU still did not cooperate.
Despite these efforts, the Nvidia 3060 was still visible in the Device Manager but refused to be recognized by any other software or application. Frustrated and out of ideas, I turned to the community for assistance.
