Currently in quarantine, I attempted to watch some 4K VR videos from Pornhub Premium for research purposes, but they aren’t playing.

Troubleshooting 4K VR Video Playback Issues: A Quarantine Dilemma

During my recent quarantine period, I decided to explore the capabilities of Pornhub Premium, particularly its feature that allows users to download stunning 4K VR videos. However, I quickly encountered some unexpected challenges that I hope to share in hopes of finding a solution.

After subscribing to Pornhub Premium, I eagerly downloaded a selection of premium VR videos, each over 1GB in size. Excited to dive into a new immersive experience, I attempted to play them on my computer using both VLC and MPC-HC. To my dismay, while the sound worked perfectly, the visuals were another story entirely. The screen remained blank, sometimes displaying a distorted green line along the top, and occasionally the entire display would turn green, leading to freezing issues with the video player. It felt as though the files were corrupted.

My original intention was to view these videos on my mobile VR headset using the Mobile VR Station app. However, this plan was thwarted as I was met with a “Cannot decode” error when trying to load the videos. Frustrated but determined to resolve the situation, I sought help to navigate this technical conundrum.

Interestingly, I later discovered that the problem was not as widespread as I initially thought. It turned out that the videos played flawlessly on my Windows PC, including the default video player and VLC, provided I disabled the hardware encoding feature. This led me to believe the issue was confined to my mobile device.

In search of a solution for my mobile experience, I decided to try SKyBOX VR Video Player on iOS. While it offered a more promising interface and compatibility, I found myself facing another setback: the videos played with only audio, accompanied by a persistent black screen. Clearly, the journey to enjoy these immersive VR videos was proving to be more complex than I anticipated.

As I continue to explore different applications and potential solutions to play my 4K VR videos successfully, I’m eager to hear from anyone who may have faced similar challenges or who might recommend a reliable mobile app that can handle such high-resolution content. Your insights would be greatly appreciated!
