Troubleshooting a GPU Issue on a Used Laptop: Seeking Solutions

As an IT professional, encountering a tricky technical issue can be frustrating, especially when it involves a recently acquired device. Recently, I purchased a used laptop equipped with an Nvidia 3060 GPU from my previous employer. For the first couple of weeks, everything was functioning smoothly—until a few days ago, when the graphics card suddenly stopped working.

In my quest for a solution, I’ve tackled several potential fixes without success. My troubleshooting steps have included:

  • Reinstalling the graphics drivers
  • Updating the BIOS
  • Rolling back recent BIOS and Windows updates
  • Uninstalling and reverting to previous driver versions
  • Performing a complete reinstallation of the Windows operating system, including reverting to an earlier version

Despite these efforts, the device manager continues to recognize the GPU, yet it appears to be unresponsive to various applications. It’s a perplexing situation, and I’m reaching out to the community for help.

If anyone has encountered a similar issue with their hardware or has suggestions on what steps I should take next, your insights would be greatly appreciated. Let’s share knowledge and troubleshoot this together!
