Feeling Like a Classic Boomer in a Gen Z Body: Suspecting My WiFi Has Been Hacked

Is My WiFi Hacked? A Personal Tech Mystery

In an age where technology dominates our lives, experiencing issues with online accounts and connectivity can feel perplexing—almost like stepping into a modern horror film. Recently, I found myself grappling with a situation that left me questioning my digital safety.

The Story: A Sudden Shutdown

Last night, I settled in for a cozy evening, ready to enjoy a film while conveniently scrolling through my Facebook feed. Just as I was getting comfortable, I was unexpectedly logged out of my account with a message indicating that my session had expired. Distracted, I didn’t immediately realize that the movie I was watching had switched to a language I couldn’t understand. It took me a solid thirty minutes to register that something was off.

Feeling bewildered, I attempted to regain access to my Facebook account. I logged into the email address associated with my account only to discover that the phone number linked to it had been changed—something I certainly hadn’t done. Naturally, I began to feel a wave of concern wash over me.

An Unexpected Twist

This morning, I went back to my email to retrieve the code from Facebook that would allow me to reset my password, but the code never arrived. As I sifted through my email folders, I stumbled upon a perplexing discovery. In my junk mail, I found an email addressed to someone else. The sender was themed around “Adult Dating” and the recipient’s email, although somewhat similar, could not possibly be mine.

My imagination began to run wild. Lately, I’ve immersed myself in modern horror films, where characters find themselves entangled in nightmarish scenarios driven by hacked WiFi and sinister plots. Surely, I thought, I must be enduring my own tech thriller!

Seeking Reassurance and Guidance

As ludicrous as this might sound, I’m left feeling a little foolish. Could it truly be that my WiFi has been compromised? Or am I simply overreacting to a string of unfortunate, yet benign coincidences?

If anyone has experienced similar tech issues or has advice on how to navigate this daunting scenario, I would love to hear from you. Additionally, I have video evidence of my suddenly foreign “Princess Diaries” along with the curious email in my junk folder. If sharing this could help me identify whether my fears have any credibility, I would appreciate any guidance on how to do so—even if it means navigating the intricacies of blog-sharing.

Thank you
