A 5-pound dumbbell dropped onto our system unit, causing everything to start lagging

Troubleshooting a Computer Mishap: When a Dumbbell Takes a Dive

Accidents can happen to anyone, even when we least expect them. Recently, a rather unfortunate incident occurred with my computer setup: a 5-pound dumbbell fell onto my system unit, and ever since, my computer has been experiencing significant lag.

Prior to this mishap, everything was running smoothly, making this sudden decline in performance all the more perplexing. Upon inspection, I noticed a slight dent on the case and the front panel nearly sprang open, raising concerns about potential internal damage. With minimal technical understanding, I took a deep dive into the BIOS settings, but I’m feeling a bit out of my depth.

The Current Situation

After the dumbbell incident, I’ve encountered an alarming message during startup: “Operating System is missing.” This warning appears occasionally, forcing me to power the system down and restart it in hopes of resolving the issue.

An additional concern has arisen during my troubleshooting. Upon accessing the BIOS, I discovered that the CPU temperature skyrockets to a staggering 99 degrees Celsius. Such extreme temperature readings suggest that something might be seriously wrong with the hardware, potentially due to the impact from the fall.

What to Do Next?

Given these complications, I’m reaching out for advice on how to proceed. If you’ve ever faced a similar situation or have expertise in PC repairs, any recommendations on diagnosing hardware issues or preventing further damage would be greatly appreciated.

As I navigate this unexpected challenge, I’ll keep you updated on any developments. Here’s hoping for a swift recovery for my computer!
