Troubleshooting Random Internet Disconnects: My Ongoing Struggle

For over five years, I’ve been grappling with a frustrating issue—my internet connection inexplicably disconnects every 30 minutes to an hour. It’s been an endurance test of patience as I navigate the peaks and valleys of a seemingly reliable service that frequently leaves me in the lurch.

During routine activities such as downloading files, the internet unexpectedly drops out for a couple of minutes, while streaming videos leads to unwanted interruptions. Gaming becomes an exercise in futility due to persistent lag and rubberbanding, despite my attempts to connect via an Ethernet cable.

It’s disheartening to feel as though I’ve exhausted all options. I’ve reached out to my internet service provider (ISP) for assistance, but the technicians found no issues with the connection. Interestingly, I appear to be the only one in my neighborhood facing this problem. Unfortunately, I’m also locked into using this particular provider due to apartment restrictions, leaving me with few alternatives.

I even invested in a new router, the Archer C50, hoping it would enhance my connectivity, yet the issues persist. The experience is mentally taxing, especially when my connection falters even as I’m typing this post.

Upon examining the event log, I’ve encountered several recurring error messages, including:

  • No Ranging Response received – T3 time-out
  • UCD invalid or channel unusable
  • Can’t get Downstream; trying to lock on DS
  • TFTP failed – OUT OF ORDER packets

These cryptic alerts only add to my confusion and frustration. While I want to believe that a solution exists, it feels like I’m at my wit’s end.

In a recent development, I contacted tech support once again. They conducted an investigation into the external lines and identified issues outside my apartment. After they performed repairs, I noticed some improvement, but I remain cautious and uncertain about the actual stability of the connection moving forward.
