Is Your Neighbor Eavesdropping on Your Computer? Here’s What to Do
Recently, I found myself in a truly unsettling situation. It felt as if my privacy had been invaded—my neighbor seemed to be able to hear everything happening on my computer screen. After some investigation, I suspected that my router may have been compromised. Initially, I was using WEP security, which I’ve come to learn is not the best option for protecting my network.
As I attempted to access my router to change its settings, I encountered an error: it kept timing out, which only added to my frustration. In an effort to identify any potential security threats, I utilized several tools, including HijackThis, Malwarebytes (specifically the anti-rootkit version), and Wireless Network Watcher. However, all my scans returned normal results, leaving me more confused.
Using a Windows 7 laptop, I am reaching out for assistance and recommendations. If you have experienced a similar situation or have tips on how to enhance my security, I would greatly appreciate your input. Ensuring that my online privacy is protected is increasingly important, and it’s crucial to stay vigilant against potential risks.
