Kaspersky’s Impact on Internet Speed: A Frustrating Experience
If you’re a frequent downloader or rely on a stable internet connection for work, you can probably relate to the frustration I’ve been experiencing with Kaspersky’s antivirus software. After making the switch from BitDefender just last week, I’ve found myself in an unexpected dilemma: Kaspersky is throttling my internet speed by nearly 60%.
Upon closing the Kaspersky application, my connection speed immediately returns to normal, which raises serious concerns about the software’s performance and reliability during critical download windows. It’s essential for me to maintain optimal speeds, especially when downloading large files, making this situation a significant deal-breaker.
Before this, I had been using BitDefender for five years with no issues regarding speed fluctuations; my connection remained consistently robust even with all security features operational. I have also tried security solutions like McAfee, Norton, and Avira without encountering similar problems.
In my attempt to troubleshoot with Kaspersky, I systematically disabled each protection feature, hoping to isolate the cause of the slowdown. Unfortunately, even turning off all settings did not yield any positive results. Given that BitDefender offers comparable features and doesn’t impact speed, it’s hard not to place the blame squarely on Kaspersky.
Despite reaching out to their technical support, the response was underwhelming at best. They were unwilling to provide a refund, leaving me feeling stuck with an antivirus solution that negatively impacts my internet experience.
I can’t help but share my experience in hope of warning others. If you are considering Kaspersky, tread carefully. In my case, this antivirus has proven to be more of a liability than a safeguard.
On a final note, I understand that some may argue that 400 Mbps is more than sufficient, but given the premium I pay for that service, seeing a drop of 60% due to my antivirus is unacceptable. This isn’t just a minor inconvenience; it significantly affects my ability to work efficiently.
If anyone has suggestions or alternatives, I would greatly appreciate your input!
