Troubleshooting a Stubborn GPU: Seeking Solutions for a Nvidia 3060 Notebook
As an IT professional, there are few things more frustrating than dealing with unexpected hardware issues, especially when you need your equipment to perform reliably. Recently, I encountered a perplexing problem with a used laptop I purchased from my company. Equipped with an Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU, it functioned flawlessly for two weeks before suddenly stopping working without warning.
My initial attempts to resolve the issue have included a wide range of troubleshooting steps. I began with the basics—reinstalling the GPU drivers and ensuring the BIOS was up to date. In a bid to eliminate potential conflicts, I also reverted several updates for both the BIOS and Windows. When those efforts didn’t yield any results, I went a step further: I completely uninstalled the drivers and tried older versions, hoping for a breakthrough. To cover all my bases, I even reinstalled Windows and reverted to a previous version, thinking this might do the trick.
Despite my extensive efforts, the GPU remains visible in the Device Manager but remains unrecognized by any applications or programs I utilize. This has left me at a bit of a loss.
I am reaching out to the community for assistance—has anyone else experienced similar issues with their Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU? Any insights or guidance on potential solutions would be greatly appreciated. Sometimes, fresh perspectives can illuminate the path forward in troubleshooting scenarios like this. Thank you in advance for any help!
