Troubleshooting High Ping and Connection Issues to Game Servers
If you find yourself in a situation where you can browse the internet effortlessly but struggle to connect to game servers—often experiencing frustratingly high ping—you’re not alone. This common issue can leave avid gamers feeling exasperated, particularly when it dramatically impacts their gaming experience.
The Problem
Recently, I encountered significant issues connecting to various game servers. When I am able to connect, the ping is alarmingly high—resulting in a laggy experience that is far from enjoyable. This problematic behavior began after my personal computer experienced a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) incident, reportedly due to the Corsair V Bus Driver. Although I managed to resolve the driver issue by replacing it with an unrecognizable alternative, my connection woes persisted. Now, when I attempt to join games, I am either met with a “failed to connect” message or an unplayable ping, and this issue appears confined to my desktop PC, as my laptop and other devices function normally.
Games Affected
The connection problems have been present across several titles, including:
– Rainbow Six Siege: Encountered an outrageous ping of 42949.
– Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Unable to establish a connection.
– Call of Duty: Cold War: Connection attempts also failed.
