Unusual PC Behavior: Seeking Guidance on a Strange Incident
Recently, I experienced an exceptionally bizarre incident with my computer while gaming, and I’m reaching out for assistance and insights.
While engrossed in a session of Battlefield 4, I attempted to record some gameplay footage using NVIDIA’s capabilities. I accidentally hit a series of key combinations on my keyboard, eventually discovering the correct shortcut to save the captured footage. To my surprise, a few moments later, my computer began to act erratically—a series of random keys seemed to activate on their own, leading the game to open the chat where it typed “amr admin.” Panic set in, prompting me to exit the game.
After that, I noticed something even stranger. When I opened Google Chrome, my browser inexplicably started entering full sentences into the search bar. Despite my attempts to stop it by pressing other keys, new text was still appearing, including phrases like “use thea hze li again?” and “deah but now i might not be able ti do much :^_.” Alarmed, I immediately ran an antivirus scan using Malwarebytes, which fortunately revealed no threats.
As I tried to exit Battlefield, the game unexpectedly reconnected to the server, and my mouse began to flicker uncontrollably until I rebooted my PC. After checking my keyboard settings and macros, I found nothing unusual. An online search yielded no helpful threads related to my experience. The whole situation felt surreal and left me quite frightened. I haven’t downloaded any new files in the last two weeks, so I’m struggling to determine if I’m dealing with malware or an odd hardware glitch.
Now, I’m at a crossroads. Should I perform a complete wipe of my PC, despite having important files? Is my system compromised? Has anyone else encountered something like this? I’m eager for advice on the best steps to take.
Update: I cannot replicate the typing phenomenon, even after attempting to reproduce the key combinations that triggered it initially.
Further Update: Thank you all for your supportive responses! I diligently checked my macros and followed suggestions to see if anything was connected, but found nothing. In the end, I opted to wipe my PC for peace of mind. I’ll keep testing to see if the issue recurs.
Final Update: I appreciate everyone’s thoughtful input. The consensus seems to lean toward a macro issue, although I couldn’t identify the source of the strange text. It’s possible it could
