Accidentally Damage Mom’s Phone—Please Help Me Fix It Before She Finds Out

Title: How I Accidentally Disabled My Mom’s Phone Network: A Tech Mishap and a Search for Solutions

I recently found myself in a bit of a pickle with my mom’s phone, and I could really use some guidance. While I was experimenting with her device, I inadvertently altered the network settings in a way that disrupted her ability to make calls. Here’s what happened—and how I managed to get caught up in a technological mishap.

In my curiosity, I accessed the phone app and entered the code ##4636##, which changed the network configuration from “2G/3G/4G (LTE/GSM/CDMA auto with PRL)” to “4G (LTE only).” Unbeknownst to me, this setting completely disabled her calling functionality. Upon realizing my mistake, I attempted to revert the setting back to “4G/3G (LTE/GSM with PRL),” but there was a catch: every time my mom restarted her phone—often due to a glitch that sends the screen into a bright black state—it reverted back to “4G (LTE only),” once again disabling her calls.

Now, I’m in a bit of a bind and desperately seeking a solution. Is there a way to correct this issue permanently so that the phone can remain on the “4G/3G” setting without reverting back to the problematic “LTE only” mode every time it’s restarted? Ideally, I’d like to find a way to enable 4G while ensuring that calling features are intact.

Edit: Thanks to everyone who offered advice! I tried numerous solutions, and I’m pleased to report that one of them worked! It’s amusing (and slightly embarrassing) that my first silver medal achievement on Reddit stems from a cry for help regarding tech troubles. Here’s hoping that others may find this experience helpful as well!
