My Mom’s Attempt to Fix the WiFi Issue Backfired—Seeking Help

Troubleshooting WiFi Issues: When Fixes Make It Worse

We all rely heavily on our WiFi connections to stay connected, but what happens when things go awry? Recently, I found myself in a rather perplexing situation involving an unreliable WiFi connection and an aging computer. It all started when our internet unexpectedly went down for two days, leading my mom to take matters into her own hands in a rather unexpected way.

My mom is using an older Mac from 2011, equipped with Windows 7— a combination that’s somewhat uncommon, but hey, it works for her. In an attempt to resolve the WiFi issues, she decided to run a system repair process (the term in Czech is “obnova systému,” but I’m not quite sure of the official English translation). The intention was good: follow the steps to repair any potential faults in the system and restore functionality. However, things quickly spiraled out of control.

Once she initiated the repair, the computer restarted and began loading necessary files. I felt a pang of concern as I watched the screen, knowing that such operations can be tricky. Unfortunately, what followed was an endless loop of the system repair process—not the outcome we were hoping for. After what felt like an eternity, the screen finally displayed a message indicating it couldn’t resolve the issue, further asserting that everything was just fine. But we knew better; there was clearly a problem.

The situation worsened when I attempted to exit the repair process. Each try to circumvent the situation simply reset the computer, taking us back to square one without allowing any login access.

Now, I find myself in a predicament—I desperately need guidance on how to troubleshoot this issue effectively. Have you ever experienced a technological mishap like this? What steps should we take to regain control of the computer and hopefully resolve the WiFi problem once and for all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
