Troubleshooting a Stubborn Nvidia 3060: My Struggle with a Used Laptop
As an IT professional, I’m accustomed to navigating a variety of technical issues, but I recently encountered a perplexing problem I’ve yet to resolve. After purchasing a used laptop equipped with an Nvidia 3060 graphics card from my former employer, everything worked seamlessly for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, that has since changed, and I find myself stuck.
The graphics card suddenly ceased to function, leaving me without a clear path forward. In my effort to remedy the situation, I initiated several troubleshooting steps. These included reinstalling the graphics drivers, applying the latest BIOS updates, and even rolling back both BIOS and Windows updates to see if that could rectify the problem. Despite these attempts, I also tried uninstalling the drivers entirely and reverting to older versions, as well as reinstalling Windows itself to a previous build.
While the device manager acknowledges the presence of the graphics card without issue, it appears that no other software can recognize it. This leaves me at a crossroads, a common plight in the tech world where even the most adept can sometimes hit a wall.
I’m reaching out to the community for assistance. Has anyone faced a similar situation, or does anyone have insights that might lead me to a solution? Your suggestions could be invaluable as I work to revive this laptop and restore its functionality. Thank you in advance for your help!
