Troubleshooting a Persistent Copy-Pasting Glitch: My Struggle with Computer Malfunctions
We’ve all encountered frustrating issues with our technology at some point, but what do you do when your computer starts exhibiting strange behavior, like uncontrollable copy-pasting? Recently, I found myself facing just that dilemma, and the experience has been nothing short of maddening.
The Strange Beginnings
It all began yesterday when my computer started behaving erratically, randomly copying items that I had not even selected. Initially, I thought it might just be a minor hiccup, so I rebooted the machine multiple times. The first few minutes after each restart were relatively normal, but soon enough, the erratic behavior returned. I even went so far as to reset my computer and uninstall relevant drivers, yet the issue persisted.
To ensure I wasn’t dealing with a faulty keyboard, I disconnected it and tried a different one, only to find that the problem remained unchanged.
A Mysterious Connection
After further investigation, I remembered downloading a program called Radiant Viewer — a medical imaging software for DICOM files. I had just uploaded some files from a USB drive I received from my professor. Seemingly coincidental, this was when the bizarre behavior began. Out of curiosity, I tested the same software and files on my laptop, and, shockingly, it started experiencing the same issue.
I documented the madness and shared videos online, capturing my computer’s odd behavior for anyone willing to empathize.
Identifying the Culprit
Through a process of elimination, I determined that the USB drive was likely the source of the problem. After performing a complete system reset and formatting my disk, my computer ran smoothly — until I reinserted the USB. The glitches returned almost immediately.
In an attempt to resolve the situation, I attempted a factory reset, which initially appeared successful. However, within an hour, the same issues reemerged. The next step on my agenda was a fresh installation of Windows, but I fear that the stubborn problem wouldn’t fade away so easily.
A Complicated Twist
Despite my best efforts, even a clean installation of Windows did not eradicate the issue. I started to suspect that the mouse I was using might also be infected. I took a leap of faith and tested my old laptop, which had not come into contact with the problematic USB drive. To my dismay, it, too, began displaying the same glitch. After connecting the mouse, the problems
