Troubleshooting Flickering Laptop Screens: A Personal Experience

Have you ever encountered a scenario where your laptop screen suddenly starts flickering and distorting for no apparent reason? If so, you’re not alone. I recently faced this frustrating issue with my Lenovo P51 laptop running the latest version of Windows 10. After waking it from sleep, I was greeted with an unsettling visual disruption that rendered my screen nearly unusable.

Despite attempting a reboot to resolve the issue, nothing seemed to work. Interestingly, an external monitor connected via HDMI functioned perfectly, which led me to suspect that the problem was isolated to my laptop display. In an effort to document the malfunction, I attempted to upload a video showcasing the flickering, but much to my dismay, my internet connection faltered, forcing me to settle for a still image. Troubleshooting Attempts

In an effort to get to the bottom of this mystery, I booted up my laptop in safe mode. Unfortunately, the issue persisted, and the screen’s poor performance made it difficult for me to proceed with tasks like uninstalling drivers. After holding down the power button for about 15 seconds, I powered up my laptop again. To my surprise, the flickering that had plagued my screen disappeared after approximately five seconds. While I’m relieved that the problem fixed itself—at least for now—I can’t help but feel bewildered. What caused the glitch in the first place? I’m left pondering how to prevent a recurrence.
