Understanding RAM Recognition Issues: A Case Study

Recently, I encountered a perplexing situation with my computer’s memory management that I’d like to share, as it may illuminate similar issues for others in the tech community. Despite my machine having a total of 16GB of RAM installed, the Task Manager only identified 8GB of that memory, leading to some confusion about my system’s performance capabilities.

While multitasking—specifically, rendering videos and streaming music via YouTube—I noticed significant sound buffering issues. Initially, I suspected this was related to high GPU utilization, but further investigation revealed that my RAM was under heavy strain. The strangest part was that Task Manager reported that 3.4GB was using up 39% of my memory, which didn’t seem to add up.
