Troubleshooting Audio Issues with Your New Headset: A Frustrating Experience
Are you experiencing unexpected audio problems with your new headset? You’re not alone!
I recently purchased the Corsair HS35 and anticipated a seamless audio experience. However, when I plugged it in for the first time, I was disheartened to find there were no notifications regarding new audio devices. The headset was recognized solely as a speaker, while the laptop continued to rely on its internal microphone.
To illustrate the issue, I checked the sound settings, which clearly indicated that my headset was recognized only as a speaker. This situation allowed me to hear audio through the headphones, but unfortunately, I was unable to utilize the built-in microphone.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, I went ahead and reinstalled the Realtek Audio drivers sourced directly from the Acer website for my specific laptop model. Upon removing the drivers and rebooting, my laptop temporarily recognized the headset as both a headphone and a microphone. However, this moment of success was short-lived. After the installation process prompted another reboot, my device reverted to identifying the headset as just a speaker again.
Currently, if I want to utilize the microphone, I have to uninstall the Realtek driver, restart my laptop, and click ‘reboot later’. This workaround lets me use the mic for a brief period, but it becomes an exhausting cycle—shutting down the PC means I have to repeat the entire process once more.
This situation has left me feeling quite frustrated. It may seem trivial, yet I have been using inadequate earbuds that cause discomfort, and my financial situation doesn’t allow for purchasing a new headset. What was meant to be a simple treat for myself has turned into a source of further stress.
