My mom’s attempt to “fix” the WiFi issue only made it worse—Need assistance

Troubleshooting WiFi Woes: A Personal Tech Dilemma

In today’s digitally-driven world, a stable WiFi connection is essential. However, I recently found myself grappling with a perplexing situation that many can relate to: a malfunctioning internet connection compounded by a not-so-tech-savvy attempt to ‘fix’ it.

For the past two days, my household has been plagued by WiFi disruptions. While this in itself is a minor annoyance, the real issue arose when my mom, determined to rectify the problem on her own, decided to intervene using her antiquated Mac from 2011—yes, the one running Windows 7. I must commend her proactive spirit, but the method she chose to resolve the issue left much to be desired.

In her quest for a solution, she initiated something she referred to as a ‘system repair’—or “obnova systému” in Czech. As her computer whirred into action, I felt an uneasy knot form in my stomach. My apprehensions turned out to be well-founded. The repair process commenced, showcasing a seemingly endless cycle of loading files and system checks.

Unfortunately, instead of finding a resolution, the computer stubbornly declared it could not repair itself—despite the glaring reality that something was, indeed, amiss. The process continued to loop endlessly; attempts to escape this cycle resulted in restarts, each more frustrating than the last.

Faced with an immovable computer and a WiFi connection that remained out of reach, I found myself at a loss. What can be done in situations like this? Have you ever faced a crisis where someone’s well-intentioned tech intervention only exacerbated the problem?

If you’ve navigated similar waters, I would greatly appreciate your advice on how to break this cycle and restore both the computer and our precious WiFi. Your expertise could make all the difference!
