Troubleshooting Internet Issues: When Connectivity Fails at Inopportune Moments

In today’s digital age, a stable internet connection is essential, especially when working from home or trying to stay connected with loved ones. However, experiencing frequent outages can be incredibly frustrating, particularly when they seem to align perfectly with heated discussions in the household.

Recently, I encountered a perplexing situation after moving into my partner’s family home. The dynamics here are quite unique. Her stepfather, who has a good grasp of technology, manages a rather intricate network setup. However, the internet seems to conveniently disconnect just after family arguments. Strangely enough, he always maintains that he isn’t responsible for these outages and often offers me basic troubleshooting tips like resetting the router and modem. Yet, despite my efforts, the connection rarely comes back until he returns home and has a discussion with an Eastlink representative. Interestingly, once the conversation concludes, the internet miraculously starts working again.

To add to the challenge, my access is restricted since he changed the administrative password, preventing me from examining the network settings directly. Hard resetting the equipment doesn’t yield any results either. At this point, I’m exploring all possible solutions before considering the option of setting up an independent internet connection.
