Able to Browse the Web but Unable to Access Game Servers

Troubleshooting Connectivity Issues: When You’re Online but Can’t Play

If you’re experiencing connectivity issues while trying to engage in your favorite online games, you’re not alone. Recently, I’ve found myself in a frustrating situation where I can browse the internet without any hiccups, yet I struggle to connect to game servers or face extraordinarily high ping.

The Background

The troubles began after my computer suffered a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) incident due to a conflict with the Corsair Virtual Bus Driver. After troubleshooting, I managed to rectify the problem by updating the driver. While that issue has been resolved, I’ve since encountered connectivity challenges when attempting to join online games.

The Symptoms

Currently, my gaming experience is marred by frequent errors. Here are some games I’ve tried to connect to, along with the issues faced:

  • Rainbow Six Siege: An astonishing ping of 42949, which is obviously unplayable.
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Encountered a connection failure.
  • Call of Duty: Cold War: Also resulted in a connection failure.

Interestingly, this issue seems to be limited to my gaming PC, as my laptop and other devices connect without a hitch.
