A Mysterious Incident with My PC: Seeking Guidance
In an unexpected turn of events, I recently experienced a bizarre incident with my computer that left me both perplexed and anxious. Allow me to share my story in the hopes that someone can provide clarity or advice.
While engaged in a session of Battlefield 4, I attempted to record some gameplay using my NVIDIA software. In the process, I pressed a series of key combinations to save the footage. Almost instantly, my keyboard began to behave erratically, randomly typing keys and ultimately opening the game’s chat feature. To my astonishment, it typed the phrase “amr admin.” Alarmed, I quickly exited the game.
The situation escalated when I decided to open Google Chrome. To my disbelief, the search bar began populating with coherent sentences. Frantically, I pressed various keys in an effort to regain control, but the typing continued, producing phrases such as “use thea hze li again?” and “deah but now I might not be able ti do much :^_.” Realizing the gravity of the situation, I immediately ran Malwarebytes, but it found no threats.
As I tried to exit Battlefield 4, the game kept reconnecting me to the server, and my mouse began to flicker uncontrollably. The only remedy was to reboot my computer.
In my quest for answers, I inspected my keyboard for any macro settings and found nothing unusual. A search online yielded no relevant threads or advice. Feeling absurd for what I was experiencing, I couldn’t shake the nagging worry that my PC might be compromised—especially since I hadn’t downloaded anything in the last two weeks.
Now, I’m at a crossroads. I’m contemplating a hard wipe of my PC, but I have numerous important files stored on it. Is there anyone out there who has faced something similar? Could this be a form of malware, or might it simply be a malfunctioning hardware issue?
In an effort to clarify the situation, I revisited the key combinations I had used earlier, but I couldn’t replicate the bizarre typing. Following the helpful guidance from this community, I checked all macros and investigated any potential connections, but nothing unusual emerged. Ultimately, concerned about my device’s safety, I opted for a complete wipe. It felt like a precautionary measure, considering I was unable to ascertain the source of the irregular behavior.
Interestingly, numerous individuals suggested that it could have been a macro error, despite my inability
