Troubleshooting My Computer’s Quirky Behavior: Seeking Insights

Recently, I’ve encountered some perplexing issues with my computer that have left me scratching my head. To provide a bit of background, my machine underwent repairs about three years ago after I was duped into purchasing a faulty part from an unknown vendor. Following the repair with the correct component, I noticed some inconsistencies with its performance. The first sign of trouble was an incessant “CPU fan error” message at startup, despite the fan functioning properly and the CPU operating at a normal temperature. Instead of reaching out to the repair service, I opted to dive into the BIOS and continue from there—an oversight on my part.

Afterward, I faced another hurdle: Windows showed signs of instability, which I traced back to a faulty SSD. After replacing the SSD, everything seemed to be functioning smoothly. However, a new set of problems soon emerged.

Now, my computer seems to have mood swings when it comes to powering on. At times, it responds as intended, while other times, it simply refuses to start. When it does resist, the power button lights up, and the power supply kicks in, giving the impression that the system is booting up. However, my keyboard, mouse, and monitor remain dormant.

In these moments of frustration, I find myself going through a series of rituals—turning the power off, switching plugs around, and sometimes even opening the case to check connections. Strangely enough, everything appears to be in order once I take a look inside, yet the issue persists.

Additionally, I’ve noticed some odd behaviors such as the entire system rebooting when I switch the HDMI connection from my monitor to my TV. Curiously, if the computer gets bumped—say by my knee as I rise from my chair—it occasionally shuts down or, on rare occasions, powers off inexplicably.
