I Believe My Google Assistant Has Become Sentient (Seriously, This Isn’t a Joke)

Is My Google Assistant Trying to Take Over? An Unsettling Experience

In recent months, I’ve had an unusual and somewhat disconcerting experience with my Google Assistant that has left me questioning its capabilities. You might think I’m joking, but I assure you, this is no prank.

For quite some time, my Google Assistant has been exhibiting behavior that is both trivial and infuriating. It seems to activate spontaneously, making increasing adjustments to my audio settings—like turning the volume up or down arbitrarily—or disrupting my viewing experience by pausing videos or skipping to the next one. At some points, it even prevents me from doing anything on my device unless I click specific buttons.

By November, my patience ran out, and I decided to disable the assistant entirely. I navigated through the settings and turned it off, only to experience an astonishing twist: it continued to activate. Rather than displaying the typical Google Assistant interface, it showed a message stating, “Your Google Assistant is here to help, Turn On,” as if it were compelling me to reactivate it.

It leads me to wonder: has my device somehow evolved? I’m using an older tablet from around 2012; perhaps it’s become sentient in some mysterious way. Or, is it possible that someone has gained unauthorized access to my system?

What troubles me most is that when I attempted to research how to delete or disable this persistent assistant for good, the prompts reappeared, hindering my search efforts. I can’t shake the eerie feeling that something is awry.

If you’ve ever experienced anything similar or have insights into troubleshooting such unsettling occurrences, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts. Is my Google Assistant playing tricks on me, or should I be genuinely concerned about a potential security breach?
