Unfamiliar Installers on New Company Laptop: Should I Be Worried?

Recently, I was issued a new laptop from my employer, a Lenovo E490 running Windows 10. During the setup process, the migration of my previous hard drive content included a variety of files and applications, which raises some concerns regarding the presence of potential malware.

After configuring Outlook to my company account, I rebooted the device and was greeted with an unexpected surprise: a series of installer windows popped up upon logging in. The windows presented strange names such as “petiolule” and “ichor.” Naturally, my immediate reaction was to investigate further.

To my surprise, searching online for these keywords yielded no helpful information. It’s not uncommon to encounter unfamiliar software, especially when transferring data from an older system, but the lack of clarity regarding these installations has left me feeling uneasy.

Given that I may have unintentionally migrated malware, should I take these unusual installation prompts seriously? Are others experiencing similar issues with their new devices?

I would appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to approach this situation. It’s essential to ensure that my new laptop remains secure and free from any harmful software.
